Tree of Heaven (Drama) -2006

Tree of Heaven or Tree in Heaven is actually another piece of work from Lee Jang Soo, also the director of Stairway to Heaven. This drama is a very unique drama which combined two language Japan and Korea. Very unique indeed cause both of these language is quite popular through Asia due to many dramas showed. Most of the drama dialogue is in Korean but the venue is in Japan.

The story began with a young girl, Hirose Hana, who is half Korean and half Japanese. She lost her fahter at a very young age. When Hana's mother, Michiko, return to Japan, she brought along her new Korean husband,Yoon Soo Ha, along with his son, Yoon Suh. Yoon Suh mother died at his 10th birthday. Since then he has become autistic. Hana is exited to have a step brother and try to get Yoon Suh attention but he wants nothing to do with her.

Michiko owns an inn and all of them stayed there. They also lived together with Yoko, Michiko late husband sister, together with her daughter, Maya. Maya communicated in Japanese but can understand Korean. Yoko and her daughter had to moved in to the inn due to debts from Yoko sick habits of gambling. Yoko and Maya acted nice in front of them but they actually full of hatred towards them all.

Michiko then along with her new husband had to be away from the inn for a while and leave the inn business to Yoko. Yoko then misuse the trust and treated Hana badly. With her mother away, Yoon Suh, is the only person she can rely on as a family. However he misjudged the Hana's kindness as love. Hana actually is seeing someone that is her senpai(senior) called Ryu senpai.
Frustrated by that, Yoon Suh leaves the inn and live alone. After the leave, Hana realize that she is actually love Yoon Suh, but just too afraid to confess. But it is too late as he has already leaved.

Yoko then get a call telling her about an accident that has killed Michiko and her husband. She then kept the news about their death to herself. She sold the inn and ran away to Tokyo with her daughter, Maya and led for a new life. Hana with nowhere else to go, followed Ryu senpai to Tokyo to work at his hotel along with her best friend, Mika.

After two years, Yoon Suh and Hana accidentally met and from there, the story of both of them began......

Another interesting drama to be watched for me. Park Shin Hye and Lee Wan combined together again as a lovers as step brother and sister, a SAME character they played in Stairway to Heaven.Huh, guess why?? Cause the director of both drama is same. But this time, both of them is the main character compared to Stairway to Heaven where they only played a minor character.

There is actually some some reason I'm interested to watched this drama
1. The director is same person who directed the amazing Stairway to Heaven.
2. It only have 10 episodes, only half of 20 episodes of usual Korean drama. So it takes less time to download
3. The another main reason is because they combined Park Shin Hye and Lee Wan together again.
4. The poster of this movie really attracted me, especially the poster above.

Because of the drama only consist 10 episode, the story isn't dragging too much like Stairway to Heaven.However, there is 1 thing that makes the drama little bit flaw. That is Shin Hye appearance. She is 16 when she played this role but Hana is 20 when she works at the hotel. I always can't imagine her as a a matured woman cause the way she looked is still like a school girl.

But still Shin Hye and Lee Wan acting is superb. Lee Wan played as a gang mafia really well. The songs were also nice and there is also a track that were sang by Lee Wan himself. Shin Hye also sang in this drama but her song is not included in official soundtrack, but I still managed to get one though, haha.

Another thing though, it has been told that Maya can understand Korean but onle communicate in Japanese. Well it is understandable cause her mother is a Korean and they lived in Japan. So, it is not weird when Maya talks in Japan while her mother answers with Korean. However, when the gangster were also doing the same thing, that's weird! How come the bodyguard and the thug can understand Korean when they were Japanese who lived in Japan?? Funny, but this has make the drama itself better.

Still, this drama still does not makes me depressed as other people said they were after watching this but still, the sad feeling is still there. Maybe 1 Litre of Tears impression too strong.

Also, if you already watched Stairway to Heaven, there are some scene and caption from both stories that is same. Seriously,it is the same....

Overall, a very worth and sad drama to be seen.Short but packed with story. The chemistry between Lee Wan and Shin Hye is the best. Also the dual language really makes it one in a million drama.
